Lady Liberty SA: Empowering Women Since 2014

Lady Liberty SA is a women-focused non-profit organisation committed to protecting, guiding, and supporting all women through the complexities of womanhood. Our journey started in 2014, having seen a desperate need to address the injustices and harm that women endure from sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), inequality, and many other societal ills that disproportionately affect women. It has since been our mission to ensure women have access to resources that can lead them to restoration, holistic wellness, and ultimately, prosperity.

From Legal Aid To Holistic Wellness For All Women

Lady Liberty began with a primary focus on providing legal aid to underprivileged women affected by SGBV – we offered pro bono legal services and traveled to remote and underserved areas to share vital legal information. As we grew and our connection with women deepened, we recognised that they need and deserve more than just protection and survival. This observation led us to expand our focus and transform Lady Liberty into a comprehensive support structure that provides holistic wellness for women. Alongside this, we extended our reach to support not only underprivileged women but also women from all backgrounds.

Comprehensive Support For Women’s Well-being

In partnership with vetted experts and institutions, Lady Liberty now provides legal aid and protection, economoic development, as well as health support for psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being. Our work is further enabled by the generosity of volunteers, and donations. To date, over 2500 women across South Africa, aged 16 to 59, have benefitted from Lady Liberty SA. This has been achieved with the support of organisations such as the Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication, Vodacom, the U.S. Embassy in South Africa, City of Tshwane Municipality, and Nedbank.
