Empowering women with legal strength since 2014
Our journey started in 2014, having seen a desperate need to address the injustices and harm that women endure from Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and inequality. It has since been our mission to ensure women have access to legal resources that can lead them to restoration and ultimately, prosperity.
Legal Aid For All Women
Lady Liberty SA began with a primary focus on underprivileged women affected by SGBV, offering pro bono legal services and traveling to remote and underserved communities to share vital legal information. As we grew, and with the support of our generous partners, we extended our reach to empower not only underprivileged women but women across all socio-economic circumstances.
Our ecosystem of support
To date, Lady Liberty SA has helped over 2500 women across South Africa in partnership with vetted experts and institutions, a network of advocates and pro bono legal practitioners, and the help of volunteers, and donations.
Our ecosystem of support is not only made up of legal service providers but also includes healthcare providers as we recognise that legal and social challenges impact one’s health and wellbeing.
Organisations that have supported us include Norton Rose, Health With Heart, National Shelter Movement of South Africa, Crtv Development, Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication, Vodacom, the U.S. Embassy in South Africa, City of Tshwane Municipality, and Nedbank.
The Spirit of Womanhood
We prioritise listening to the voices of women, allowing their needs and desires to continuously shape our operations and services. In doing so, Lady Liberty SA remains an authentic offering for women, inspired by the spirit of womanhood.
